Welcome to the Organization for Peace, Reconciliation and Development, Sierra Leone. We are a non-profit organization responding to the needs of under-represented and marginalized sectors of the Sierra Leone society. Our primary focus is on peace, food security, capacity-building programs for women and youths, and providing access to education to the impoverished.

Our approach is to empower our beneficiaries, allowing them to make decisions that will bring the changes they need in their social lives. That is why we implement a democratized aid delivery framework that invites the beneficiaries into the boardroom meetings to participate in deciding the type of project and implementation method best suited for their communities.

USAID Transition Initiatives Report

"Organization for Peace and Reconciliation for Development (OPARD), has been instrumental in facilitating recent confidence-building meetings between RUF and UNAMSIL. They serve as 'barefoot emissaries' of peace, shuttling between UNAMSIL and the rebels, and encouraging peace building and reconciliation activities within Mile 91 itself."
